Estimation in Word Problems

Estimating before (or after) solving a word problem helps you sanity-check your answer. Round each number to a convenient value, do the calculation roughly, and compare the result to your exact answer — they should be reasonably close.

Estimate a total by rounding, or judge whether an estimate is reasonable.
