Arithmetic Vocabulary

Each part of an arithmetic operation has its own name:

• Addend — a number being added (addition)
• Minuend — the number being subtracted from (subtraction)
• Subtrahend — the number being subtracted (subtraction)
• Multiplicand — the number being multiplied (multiplication)
• Dividend — the number being divided (division)
• Divisor — the number you divide by (division)
